Study sessions will usually take place with only one or two students per class.
Study sessions will run from about fifteen to twenty hours a week, Monday to Friday.
Instruction will be given by qualified and experienced English as a Second Language instructors (ESOL/ EFL) with a minimum qualification of a bachelor's degree (that is Bachelor of Arts or Science).
Classes will be fun and interactive, informal yet informative. A range of skills will be acquired and developed as students immerse themselves in British language and culture.
The lessons will cover all the skills - reading, writing, listening, speaking, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and culture.. If you have special requirements, let us know!
A full report of lesson content, achievement, and recommendations for future studies will be supplied to each student after the end of the course, as well as a Stay & Study English course completion certificate.
Instructional Techniques will include:
- Demonstration and practice
- Discussion and debate
- Peer assessment
- Worksheets
- Games and role-play
- Speaking/ listening
- Audio visual media (radio, movies, TV, internet, songs) may be used to expose students to a range of accents and dialects
- Students will be encouraged to think critically for themselves, without too much reliance on other people
- Native speakers may be invited into class for extra discussion practice and to help develop student confidence
- Students will be required to speak English only
- Study groups may be used
Group members will have a similar standard of English and will be of similar ages. At the beginning of the course, the level of English may be assessed. Students will be assessed again at the end of the course to measure their progress.

Classrooms
Tuition will take place in a local Village Hall or in the beautiful old, oak-beamed room prepared at Grange Cottage.
The Village Hall is a well-equipped community centre 10 minutes walk from Grange Cottage. It is equipped with standard Health and Safety certificates. It complies with UK safety standards, it is fully insured and has toilet facilities, a modern heating system, a small kitchen, and is big enough to suit a range of activities. Some days classes may take place outside the classroom - a chance for students to learn from real-life situations within a learning context.
